We held the first of our three 2026 Health Justice Rounds - interdisciplinary case sessions that move beyond the classroom to tackle a real-world scenario mirroring the challenges our DC neighbors face every day. GW Law, Public Health, PA, and medical students came together to learn how to draft a habitability demand letter for a patient with asthma.

DCISHA hosted a screening of episode 3 of the Netflix documentary, Katrina: Come Hell and High Water, which ultimately primed us for an important dialogue on disaster recovery, housing insecurity, community resilience, and health outcomes.
Following the screening, our faculty advisor, Dr. Addie Boone, hosted a meaningful panel with the following experts:
- Dr. Laura Richman, Associate Professor at The George Washington University Law School
- Dr. Graham Pruss, PhD, Executive Director of the National Vehicle Residency Coalition
- Mr. Olu Ogidan, MPP, Legislative Aide US Senate (@brolubyolu)
- Emily Chen, second-year GW medical student researching post-Katrina cancer outcomes
The discussion was rich and impactful, with a consistent, resonant theme: strong social connections are crucial in fostering community, physical, and mental health resilience.
